Welcome! My name is Nina

I started In Nina’s Kitchen to celebrate and share my life-long love of ingredients, food, and cooking. I am in my kitchen cooking and experimenting with new ingredients during most of my free time and believe that home cooked food is the key to good health. When I’m not cooking, I enjoy being outdoors and hanging out with family and friends I love.

I was born and raised in Washington, DC, where I attended an international school and was fortunate to become fluent in French. This greatly inspired my love of rich, creamy French foods and wine and of course, the wonderful French culture. Growing up I spent much of my time experimenting in the kitchen with baking and cooking and haven’t stopped since!

Knowing I wanted to work with food, I attended New York University’s Nutrition and Food Studies program where I had the opportunity to learn about the health, science, community, and clinical side of our food system, while also studying the culinary side at the NYU Teaching Kitchen. Eager to jump into the world of wine, I worked at Eataly Wine Shop in Manhattan and developed my understanding and knowledge of modern Italian wines and the many wine-producing regions of Italy. Shortly after graduation, I made a switch to the financial and business side of the food and beverage industry and was privileged to work in a corporate setting at a high-end catering company in NYC that catered the events for cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center and The Guggenheim. I then took a side step to focus on understanding mindfulness and psychology, which I find very useful in all aspects of my life and has enhanced my cooking and creating a connection with food. I now work in the world of coffee and tea, learning about direct trade purchasing and proper dialing in of brews and espresso beverages.

I currently live in the Boston area and have plans to attend Cornell’s Master of Management in Hospitality in the Fall to advance my career in the magnificent world of food and beverage.
